We are a group of three artists who met while organizing our union (AICWU) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. We first collaborated artistically for the annual Arts in the Dark parade and have been in creative conversation ever since. Each of us is passionate about art in our own unique way:
Tatyana Scott has shown work in art galleries primarily in New Mexico, Massachusetts and Illinois and exhibited work in the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia as well as having been included in Smithsonian publications. Tatyana’s social practice is devoted to labor rights for those working in creative fields, while her studio work focuses on personal relationships and civic engagement.
Briana Shucart is a multidisciplinary artist who works in mediums ranging from gouache and acrylic paint, to puppetry, to printmaking. Firstly and foremost, she considers herself to be a writer and poet. She is inspired by and makes art about her queerness, anxiety, and relationships. Her work focuses on bringing irreverence and joy to these topics.
David Norris works primarily with acrylics on canvas, exploring both landscapes and abstract expressionism. His landscapes are inspired by the two years he spent living in Novopetrivka, Ukraine, and in his work, he aims to provoke nostalgia, calmness, and a quiet appreciation for the beauty around us. In addition to his painting practice, David creates digital art, which he transforms into stickers. This work stands apart from his canvas-based art, offering a more playful expression of his creativity.
