Current Location Press, the letterpress studio of Raychel Steinbach, creates fine art prints inspired by native flora & fauna as well as Midwest landscapes found in city and state parks. By combining hand-carved illustrative blocks with abstracted color fields, Raychel seeks to evoke the feeling of the space as well as details of the natural beauty. By embracing traditional methods of letterpress printing’s movable type, she uses the off-cuts of the wood type manufacturing process as the tools to create the letterpress form. This allows her production method to be as sustainable as possible to help preserve the beauty of the natural world through conscious creation.
